I am Julie. I am a restless photographer, artist, future architect & wanderer. I am here to share a perspective about the way the world can be, if one dares to imagine. I am passionate about new ideas, places and experiences. I take risks, for the reward of understanding the world in a new way.
I desire to use photography as an active way of bringing awareness to many issues that concern our society, culture and the natural and manmade environment. My collections aim to engage the imagination of viewers and allow them to mentally participate in the virtual creation of spatial constructs that are derived from real environments. My narratives, on the other hand, tell the visual encounters of my experiences with the world.
Since I am curious and always in need of a fluctuating environment, the medium of photography suites this transient state of mind because it aims to capture all the essences of one event in a loaded still image. From that, I am then able to translate and manifest certain concepts and ideas into other mediums such as sculpture, screen printing, and ultimately architecture. This site aims to focus on the still photograph for the time being but eventually will expand to the other mediums as well.
I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, but have traveled to 40 countries across all 7 continents. I am currently living in New York City where I am in my final year of my Masters of Architecture Degree at Columbia University.
Thank you for engaging with my work. Please be in touch soon.
